2019 – Yolanda Adams
Yolanda was diagnosed with scoliosis in the year 2016, when she was 12 years old. After being diagnosed, Yolanda was referred to Dr. Hyder Khan who performed a thorough examination and recommended surgery due to the severity of her case. He referred her to SpineHope for help. Yolanda had difficulty standing for long periods of time. She became exhausted very quickly and it became increasingly worrisome to the family since Yolanda could no longer carry her school books. She complained of discomfort and pain, especially when bending. Yolanda needed the surgery to help her live a normal life and help her achieve her dream of becoming a nurse to help people.
She had her surgery at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas on May 29, 2019. Dr. Matthew Geck was her spine surgeon and Dr. Timothy George donated his services to correct a tether discovered upon arrival. Yolanda Adams recovered so well she was out of the hospital in only 3 days and is now 3 inches taller. Now back in Guyana, Yolanda is healing at a record pace. Thank you to The Caribbean Children Foundation for being her sponsor!
